10 Must-haves When Deciding to Workout At Home

When it comes to setting up a home gym, having the right amount of space is quite beneficial.  While it could be easy to get in the car and drive to the gym sometimes, this isn’t always the case.

Here are some tools that we found on Healthy Top 10s and we believe you should have them in your home gym as it will help you develop yourself.

  1. Dumbbells.

Dumbbells are versatile and as such, they justify their purchase. The number of exercises you can do with them are limitless. Look for hex-shaped dumbbells coated with black rubber as these last longer and are comfortable for all kinds of workout. You can get about 3-5 dumbbells of different weight sizes to accommodate for different exercises

  1. Kettlebar

This is another must-have for a home gym. While some kettle bar movements can be done with dumbbells, a lot of them are still quite unique and can only be done with kettlebars. They are a worthwhile investment that can add to your routine. Look for the ones with big smooth handles without the coating.

  1. Pull Up Bar

These will be required for more than pull-ups. There are other gymnastic exercises that require these bars to be installed. You can mount them on parts of your wall or an archway.

  1. Rings

Rings are quite lightweight and needed for another level of bodyweight exercises. Well worth it for use at home or during your travels. Great for increasing the variety of your workouts as well. Look for one that is lightweight and easy to hang.

  1. Jump Rope

Jumping rope is harder than you think and is great for cardio. if you’re new to it, you can get a durable rope to begin the process but if you have some jumping skill, look for a lightweight rope to work on your speed and timing.

  1. Medicine Ball

This is used for plyometric exercises and working on the core strength of the body. A medicinal ball can be thrown, carried or used for abdominal exercises and it provides lots of options for your workout.

  1. Plyo-Box

There’s nothing as fun as having something to jump one. They can also be used for bench dips and squats. You need them!

  1. Barbell

For your home gym, this free weight is better than the big machines due to the stabilization and coordination they bring to each workout. Don’t go for the overly expensive ones without first looking for the durable ones. The diameter of the bar should be considered well if you have small hands.

  1. Weight Plates

A variety of weights ranging from 2.5#, 5# and even 45#, depending on your strength could be purchased and added to that bar.

  1. Stereo System

It’s hard to lift weights without being motivated with deep tunes. Irrespective of your niche, you can catch up with your favorite music plays or listen to your motivational audios while you do your workout.

With these 10 must-have items and a couple of minutes spent on YouTube, you will be able to generate a lot of workout sessions for yourself that will transform your body. If you can’t buy all of these items all at once, you can start small and work your way up gradually, building your gym.
