Before you google for any help , take a deep breath and read this following article it might be able to save you and your client.
As a personal trainer , we are only able to give our best on an hour or less to monitor and train our client every time we meet them.What about the rest of the 23 hours?We can baby sit them 24 hours a day, therefore it is very important for trainer to be able to identify what went wrong when their clients is not achieving their fitness goal.Use this 7 steps to identify your client’s problem and gain back their motivation and get them back on track!
Step 1: Identify the problem
Firstly, you need to identify the problem so that you can find an
appropriate solution. For example, if your client did not lose any inches or any improvement on his/her fitness level after a month of training ,you may want to have a 1 on 1 session with the person to find out what when wrong.
2. Step 2: Explore the problem
After you have identified the problem,you need to think about it from
different angles. A few questions you can ask your client :
a. How is this problem affecting your client?
b. How is it affecting others?
c. Who else experiences this problem?
d. What do they do about it?

3. Step 3: Set goals
Once you have explore the problem , you can now
identify your client’s goals. What actually he/she want to achieve?It is a good time for you to review back your client initial goal when they started their training with you.This is also a very good opportunity for you to anchor back their dreams , goal and the excitement when they achieve their fitness goal. A few questions you might wana consider to ask:
a. Improve your health?
b. Need to look good in your coming reunion dinner?
c. Going to have a wedding photoshoot?
d. To look fitter and better when wearing clothes?
4. Step 4: Look at alternatives
When you done your goal setting, you will need to look for possible solutions together WITH your clients.Do not solve the problem by yourself ,without having aggrement with your client.Because the solution you could think of , might not be practical to implement to your client’s current lifestlye. You can brainstorm for ideas together with your client. The
purpose of brainstorming is to collect a list of possibilities.
5. Step 5: Select a possible solution
Ok ,now you got tonnes of ideas in hand,how to choose the best solution?There are a few ways that you can consider when choosing the best solution.
a. You can sort out which are the most relevant to your client’s situation.
b.Which want is more realistic.
c. Which want is much more manageable.
6. Step 6: Implement a possible solution
Once you have choosen the most relevant and best solution ,you need to put it into action.
You will need to give as much positive energy and motivation to your client, because implementing the solution may take some time and effort. You can prepare your client to implement the solution by:
a. planning when and how your client will do it.
b. communicate with their closest family members or friends to motivate them.
c. rewards them when they completed a task.
Step 7: Evaluate
There are chances that the problem will not be solve even after you choose the best solution.Therefore, evaluating the effectiveness of the
solution is very important .You can ask yourself (and your client):
a. How effective was that solution?
b. Did it achieve what I/your client wanted?
c. What consequences did it have on the situation?
If the solution was successful in solving the problem and reach your/client’s
goal, then you know that you have effectively solved your problem.
Remember: People who solve their problems are not the people who face the least
amount of failure but rather people that fail , get up ,try again and success. We will never fail ,we either success or we learn.
