How to Treat Dry, Cracked & Peeling Feet Naturally

There is one part of your body that you typically forget when moisturizing, and it is the feet. Those with medical conditions such as athlete’s foot and diabetes are prone to having cracked feet. As a result, heel fissures may develop, and they can be pretty painful. The peeling and cracking can leave openings in the skin through which bacteria penetrate causing infections, as well as, discomfort. On top of all this, your feet will look and feel unpleasant. 

However, there is always an easy way to treat this condition. With just a couple of natural remedies, you can restore your skin’s smoothness and be in no pain. The following are some of the remedies but consult with your doctor first before you try anything.  

Use Lemon Juice to Soak your Feet

First, immerse your feet in lemon juice for about ten minutes. The mild acid in the lemon juice helps dissolve dead and dry skin before brushing it off. In most cases, a loofah will do a perfect job in scrubbing the unpleasant skin off. 

Alternatively, you can soak your feet in warm water for a few minutes and use a pumice stone to scrub off the dead rough skin. 

Using Fruits

You can also use fruits and in particular, bananas to heal your cracked feet. Crash several ripe bananas into a paste and leave it for about half an hour on the affected area. To quicken the positive effect, you can put socks and leave it overnight as you sleep. A mixture of mashed avocado and coconut oil will also work wonders on your cracked feet. 

Honey

You have already heard one thing that natural honey is good with. Honey has antibacterial properties apart from its nourishing effects. People have been using honey for centuries to treat different ailments. Its healing properties also work on damaged skin. Mix half a cup of honey with warm water and soak your feet. Wait for ten minutes and use a pumice stone to scrub the dead, cracked skin off. 

Olive oil

Olive oil has been part of baths for thousands of years. Some people still add olive oil to their baths and swear of its ability to keep the skin smooth. Olive oil will help alleviate the annoying symptoms of cracked feet. Pour a small amount on your palm and massage it on your feet. Coconut oil and almond oil will also have the same effect. 

Vitamin E

Your parents were very insistent you take your fruits and vegetables to get the benefits of vitamins. Vitamin E has been known for centuries to promote a youthful look. It will also work wonders on your cracked feet. Take in supplement form or oil form, rub it on your feet.

Cracked and peeling feet can be a source of pain and embarrassment. However, you do not have to live with the condition. There are a couple of natural remedies such as the application of honey you can use to retain their softness and health. Remember to repeat the application of the treatment you have chosen every day until there is a change. However, it does not have to come to this. Moisturize your feet often just the same way you do other parts of your body and get reflexology equipment to take care of them. Don’t neglect your feet, do so much for you.
