For those that know me , i quit my job as the Sport Performance coach for the Malaysia Basketball team. To clear shit off , i quit not because of the job sucks nor the salary .
I get pretty well salary and everyone is treating me like a family , and best of all my team was crown champ for SEA games 2017 and we qualified for commonwealth game 2018 . What an achievement !
Last year and this year was my best year in terms of career achievement .But….
THE QUESTION : WHY WENG YOU QUIT ?ARE YOU STUPID?
While writing this , im at the other side of the world.
IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN?
I got an overseas job offer last year , i rejected them cause i accepted the job as the Sports Performance Coach for the Malaysia team . I am a die hard Malaysia fans btw . After working for sometime , at this age (31) i think i have work hard enough to achieve what i need in my career at this moment , and im looking for more . I am a firm believer on going down before rising up.
Alot of people says that i should not give up whatever i have at this moment , and work for something that is not certain. Well , i am not born in a rich family , i do not have anything literally , if i fail, what will i lose ?
I rather lose things now , than later in my life . I believe that alot of YOU feel very comfortable , if your current income is RM10k and above , and your balls will shrink when someone offer you a better opportunity but with lower salary .
You want current 10k salary or a potential 100k salary . I bet most of you will choose to stay at 10k.
But let me tell you this , your RM10k now will only be enough for NOW . 5 years down the road , your RM10k might only be able to buy you an apartment and a car,or maybe not . If you get married GG.com you . RM10k split by 2 (you and your wife ) RM5k each , wana buy a tower of Tiger during weekends also hard d that time .
SO , if not now when ? Choose opportunity WISELY over salary .
DO NOT SAVE YOUR MONEY , IT IS NOT SAFE
I spent lots of money on investing myself . I spent 50% of my income on my study every month , until i am broke ass .
I believe that investing on our-self is the best investment . As a coach , i want to make yourself the best products , increase my value , and people will start looking for me to coach them . Part of the reason why i left , is because i am investing my study overseas as well .
My parent always told me to save more money . Then i realize that ,the more i save , the broker i became .
Example , my salary is RM3000 , i manage to save 20% out of it ,which is RM600 a month . In a year i saved RM7200 .
I invest a RM10,000 training course on myself (or whatever shit that yield profit) ,my training price increase from RM100 to RM 200 per hour ,and now my salary become RM 6000 . I become a bigger spender ,but i still save 20% of my salary , so i save RM1200 a month , in a year i save RM14 , 400
Can you see the different ? I earn more ,and i spent more but i still save more at the end of the day .
MONEY IS THE MOST INVALUABLE COMMODITY IN THE WORLD , IT DEPRECIATE OVERTIMES.
PASSION VS MONEY
This is the most discuss topic in the entrepreneur industry .
Should you go after your passion , or should you go after the money ?
If your answer is “of course passion !”
Then whatever job you are doing now , keep doing , but whatever money that you are earning from your job , donate all to the charity , because you are not working for money , you are working for your passion , so you do not need the money .
If your answer is ” of course passion first , then money will come !”
So , you are just lying to yourself and others . Your motive at the end of the day is still money . You will not be sincere at treating EVERYONE . YOU are the most fake people in this world . Stop it DEVIL!
If your answer is ” of course money first , then do whatever your passion is/are .”
Hmm….I agree partly . When you have money , you can have more options to yourself , family and to people that you love . But , if your life is all about money , then you might loss your family and friends .
SO, i would says balance is the key , money is the motivator , and passion is the drive.
Money is the reward that given to you once you completed a task . And your passion is the drive towards the reward (money) .
When you are way too passionate on your work , and it leads to noway ,no reward ,no motivator , eventually you will stop doing what you do . You will start questioning yourself, “is this really what i want ?” . You may be really doing what you love , but due to no positive return , you start to lose interest in doing what you love to do .
Remember a entrepreneur that live on passion , is a good marketer and also a money maker .
While writing this , i have not achieve any balance on this yet , i hope through my journey this year , i shall achieve it , bless me .
LAST BUT NOT LEAST ,
A MEDITATION TRIP
Last and this year was a roller coaster for me , i fall , i stand back up , fall again , got smack again ,and now i started to walk back up again . Some parts of my life was great , some was not . I left because i need a break to plan my future 50 years (maybe too long ?) .
When you are too busy at work , you will realize that time past so damn fast , and you have not achieve what you have plan .
One step back few steps forward .
Alot of people says that , i need a get away trip from the reality . Yes you can , but make sure that you do some deep thought during the trip . The trip is meant to refresh your thought , so that you can think better on what you want to do next . It is not a bachelor night trip , where you get drunk and back to your reality desk job and repeat the same , “I NEED A GETAWAY TRIP “.
So , do you still think that you want to keep your job after reading this? Great please go ahead .
